Man, son arrested for dog’s slay
ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A man and his son were arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing a neighbor’s dog last year in Alimodian, Iloilo.
Quirico Andoloy and his son, Jocel, both of Barangay Sinamay, were charged for killing and eating the meat of a six-month-old pitbull.
The incident occurred in March 2013, but the arrest warrants for the suspects were issued only last Monday.
A bail of P4,000 each was recommended for the suspects.
Dog owner Ryan Dignadice was elated by the suspects’ arrest, saying it was a first step toward attaining justice for his pet.
Quirico denied participa-ting in the killing, saying his son did it.
Jocel owned up to the crime, but claimed he thought nobody owned the dog.
Meanwhile, in South Cotabato, a family is blaming a dog for the death of their father.
Danny Awan Salif, said to be a relative of Lake Sebu Mayor Basilio Salif, died after an improvised shotgun that he was carrying on his back went off.
A report from the provincial police said a dog jumped on Salif’s back as he was attending to his farm in Barangay Lamfugon Wednesday. – With Ramil Bajo
