MANILA, Philippines - Motorcycle-riding men lobbed a hand grenade Tuesday night and exploded near the police station in Tondo, Manila.
The grenade-throwing incident happened around 11:35 p.m. near the Manila Police District Station 1 based on the footage taken by a closed circuit television (CCTV) in Barangay 150, a radio report said.
The CCTV camera, however, did not clearly show the faces of the perpetrators because it was dark and raining at the time, it added.
Police are eyeing retaliation by a crime syndicate as motive behind the incident as it was the third time this year that a grenade was lobbed at the station.
The first incident happened April 24, where a sports utility vehicle and a motorcycle of a police officer were damaged by the explosion.
It was followed by another incident in October 4, when the grenade went off at the back of the station.
Authorities have yet to arrest a suspect in the first two cases.
