PAGASA warns floods threaten Bulacan

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Low lying areas in Bulacan are threatened by possible flooding due to heavy rains, the state weather bureau said Wednesday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a "yellow" heavy rainfall warning at 11:30 a.m. for Bulacan province, meaning flooding in low lying areas is possible.

PAGASA also said that moderate with occasional heavy rains may affect Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal and portions of Quezon, Bataan, Pampanga and Batangas for the next three hours or until 2 p.m.

The weather bureau said that the heavy rains experienced by Metro Manila since Tuesday night were brought on by the weather system called shear line.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said it is monitoring a low pressure area 500 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
