MVP special guest in Bacolod’s charter day
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Business tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan will be the special guest during the 76th Charter Day celebration of Bacolod City on Oct. 19, which is part of the ongoing 35th MassKara Festival.
Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, executive director of the 76th Charter Day event, and Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairman of publicity, promotions and documentation committee, confirmed this Wednesday.
Pangilinan is the chairman of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and television network TV5. He also chairs Philex Mining and the Metro Pacific Investments Corp., which have investments in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.
With the theme “Moving Up to Greater Heights,” this year’s celebration will start with a concelebrated mass at the San Sebastian Cathedral.
A boodle fight that is open to the public will be held at the public plaza, led by the Kasadya Bacolod Foundation Inc. and other sponsors.
Awards and citations will be given to the city’s most outstanding employees and taxpayers during the Charter Day program.
