Bomb threat forces Miriam College class suspension

MANILA, Philippines - Tension gripped Miriam College in Quezon City after receiving a bomb on shortly after noon on Thursday.

Police said that Brenda Pureza, president of the school's student council, received the bomb threat through a text message at 12:08 p.m.

The school administrators immediately suspended classes as the police bomb squad cleared the area.

The text message said a group planted a bomb inside the campus which would kill many.

"Magandang umaga Miriam College. May sopresa ang grupo namin para sa inyo faculty, staff at lalo na ang mga estudyante. Makinig kayo. May tinago kaming mga pasabog sa campus ninyo. Hanapin ninyo kung makikita nyo pero sigurado ako bago ninyo mahanap, napasabog na namin.

"Dadanak ang dugo sa Katipunan. Maraming mamamatay at mga pangarap ng mga bata at magulang ang masisira. Paki abangan ang mga estudyanteng hinuhuthutan ninyo," the text read.

After conducting a paneling of the campus, authorities found no explosive devices and declared the area safe around 2:30 p.m.
