Gerry Lee Gorit - The Philippine Star

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – A police task force has been formed to solve the murders of two Swiss tourists who were shot Sunday in Opol town, Misamis Oriental.

The task force has begun gathering witnesses and will look into possible motives, including insurance problems and the romantic affairs of one of the victims.

Baltazar Johann Erni, 78, and Robert Erich Lober, 67, were shot at close range by two unidentified assailants at a beach resort in Opol. They died at the scene due to gunshots to the head and body.

Witnesses said the gunmen fled in a taxi that was waiting nearby. Local police have yet to find the taxi described by the witnesses as an old model.

Police said there was no closed-circuit television camera installed in the area.
