P1.2-M shabu seized in Surigao raids

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines – At least 160 kilos of shabu, with a value of P1.2 million, were seized in separate raids in two villages here over the weekend.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcment Agency (PDEA) and members of the city police first raided the house of a certain Julius Bayto, 42, in Barangay Luna last Oct. 4.

The raiding team allegedly seized from Bayto 11.2 grams of shabu in 15 plastic sachets with an estimated street value of P77,000.

On Oct. 5, the team raided the house of Banda Saliling, 32, and his brother Tato, 28, in Barangay Washington.

At least 160 kilos of shabu estimated to be worth P1.12 million were allegedly seized from the Saliling brothers, who also yielded firearms and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are being held at the city police detention cell. Charges will be filed against them today.
