Cudia seeks speedy SC ruling on dismissal

MANILA, Philippines - Cadet 1st Class Aldrin Jeff Cudia has asked the Supreme Court (SC) to immediately resolve his petition to nullify his dismissal from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) last March.

In a 12-page motion filed on Monday, Cudia – through chief public attorney Persida Rueda-Acosta – said his status has remained in limbo.

“Per his transcript of records, he is on indefinite leave and because of the PMA’s refusal to issue an honorable dismissal in his favor despite completion of his academic requirements, his immediate employment or possible pursuance of higher education is nearly impossible,” the pleading stated.

“With every day that passes, the future of Cadet Cudia – an exceptional student who could very well be a valuable member of the Philippine Armed Forces – remains at a standstill,” it added.

In an interview, Acosta said the case is “ripe” for final adjudication by the high tribunal.

Cudia earlier questioned the decision of the Office of the President affirming the decision of the PMA and its Cadet Review and Appeals Board not to allow him to join the graduation.

He said Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. did not sign the letter by the authority of the President.
