Teen killed in grenade attack

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A 19-year-old man was killed when a grenade exploded in their home in Amadeo, Cavite last Monday.

John Russel Almeria of Barangay Halang died while being treated at the Asian Medical Center in Dasmariñas City. He suffered several injuries and his right hand was severed in the explosion.

Almeria’s mother Rosemarie and his two siblings survived the attack.

The family was asleep when an unidentified assailant threw the grenade into their house at around 1:45 a.m., police said.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
