Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – An 80-year-old man died while two others were injured in a fire that also left more than a thousand villagers homeless here Saturday.

Virgilio Nuñez was reportedly trapped in their house in Barangay Pasonanca when the fire broke out in a shop owned by Roberto Calapiz at around 12:15 p.m., said city fire marshal Superintendent Dominador Zabala Jr.

It took more than an hour for the firefighters to contain the blaze that was believed caused by faulty electrical wiring.
