2 Pinays nabbed for attempted extortion on Singaporean
MANILA, Philippines - Makati City police officers have arrested on Tuesday two women who tried to extort P30,000 from a Singaporean woman.
Senior Superinendent Manuel Lukban, Makati City Police chief, said suspects Claire Quiachon, 29, a stay-in helper at the Sapphire Residences condominium and Aiza Adorno, 23, of Valenzuela City were nabbed trying to extort P30,000 from victim Hui Tin Chong, 36, a resident of Legaspi Village.
According to a police report, Hui together with her nanny Madelin Sasi sought police assistance after Sasi received a text message from a certain Mrs. Sanchez who asked for Hui’s mobile phone number.
Mrs. Sanchez told her that she is the mother of a classmate of Hui’s daughter and that she has a surprise for her.
Sasi told police that “Mrs. Sanchez” - who claims to have asked another “yaya’ or nanny for her number – kept on sending her text messages.
Hui then contacted “Mrs. Sanchez” and sent her a text messages to which Mrs Sanchez replied that Hui’s daughter had been hit her daughter in the head.
Hui told police that “Mrs. Sanchez” sent her another text messages threatening her that her (Mrs. Sanchez) husband has homicidal tendencies. Mrs. Sanchez also threatened to kill Hui’s daughter if she does not shell out P30,000. The money, Mrs. Sanchez said the money was for the hospital bills of her daughter who was allegedly hit by Hui’s daughter.
Hui told police that Mrs. Sanchez wanted her to deposit the money to a given bank account.
Last September 10, Hui informed police that Mrs. Sanchez instead wanted the money to be handed over personally to her female cohort at the lobby of the victim’s condominium.
Police then dispatched a team and arrested Quiachon after receiving marked cash from Sasi. Later, while being questioned at the police station, Quiachon’s phone rang. The call was made by Adorno who instructed Quiachon to deliver the money to her infront of a Makati hotel.
Adorno was arrested by police after receiving the envelope containing marked cash from Quiachon.
Both women now face complaints of threat and robbery-extortion before the Makati City Prosecutors Office.
