School principal shot dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The principal of a public high school in Angadanan town in Isabela was shot dead as he was entering the campus yesterday morning.

Editho Jacinto of the Lomboy National High School died on the scene due to bullet wounds in the head and body, said town police chief Senior Inspector Chris Danao.

Reports said the unidentified assailant, who waited for the victim to arrive at the school in Barangay Lomboy, fled on a motorcycle after the killing.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, in Iloilo, an elementary school teacher reportedly shot himself in the head in Barotac Viejo Monday.

Noel Jamosin, 43, of the San Juan Elementary School, was found dead at around 12:50 a.m. in their house in Barangay San Roque.

Chief Inspector Wilfredo Rios, town police chief, said they have yet to determine if the incident was a suicide or accidental firing.
