P5-M property destroyed in San Juan fire - report

MANILA, Philippines — An estimated P5 million worth of property went up in smoke after a furniture factory and warehouse was hit by fire in San Juan City before dawn Tuesday.

The blaze started inside the SCT Furnishing Corp. along RJ Fernandez Street, Barangay Batis around 1 a.m., a radio report said.

Reports added that the flames quickly spread inside the establishment because materials stored in it, such as foam and wood, are highly flammable.

No one was hurt during the fire, which was put out by firefighters around 5 a.m.

Arson investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
