Central Luzon posts higher crime rate
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – The number of crimes in Central Luzon has climbed significantly this year, records from Camp Olivas showed.
Central Luzon police director Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said 70,884 crimes were recorded in the region from January to August this year.
The number of reported crimes for the same period in 2013 was 61,071.
Petrasanta attributed the increase to an efficient reporting of criminal cases from the villages.
He said crime solution efficiency in police stations remained high, which indicates that police officers are doing their duties well.
The official cited the seizure of P7 billion worth of illegal drugs at Greenfields Subdivision here last week.
He said motorcycle-riding criminals were responsible for a majority of crimes, which he said could be prevented by increasing police visibility in public places and intensifying checkpoints and police operations such as “Oplan Bakal, Sita and No Mercy.”
