Pablo survivors get new houses

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 204 families who survived Typhoon Pablo have been given new houses, almost two years after the storm devastated Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley in 2012.

The beneficiaries were the first batch of the 2,675 families that the National Housing Authority (NHA) identified for the resettlement project.

The first housing project for Typhoon Pablo victims is located in Barangay San Roque, New Bataan town.

Gov. Arthur Uy led the turnover of the housing units to the beneficiaries, who used to live in an area declared as a “no-build zone” by the Department of Science and Technology and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau.

Among the 204 beneficiary-families, 128 came from the village of Cabinuangan, 29 from Cogonon, 21 from San Roque and others from Andap, Kahayag and Fatima, all in New Bataan.
