COTABATO CITY, Philippines– An explosion rocked Arakan town in North Cotabato Wednesday night, the second in Central Mindanao in just two days.
The blast was reportedly caused by a grenade thrown into a house owned by a certain Susan Seminilla, said Superintendent Rolly Oranza, chief of the Arakan municipal police.
No one was hurt in the explosion that triggered panic in the neighborhood.
Oranza said investigators have yet to determine the motive for the attack and identify suspects.
Last Tuesday, seven persons were injured in a grenade attack near the Jose Rizal monument in General Santos City.
The explosion prompted Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to order all police and military units in the city to make sure that security measures are in place.
Deputy mayors of several tribal folk, as well as village chairmen, were ordered to report any suspicious movement of people in their respective areas. – John Unson, Edith Regalado
