Drugs, firearms seized in Laguna

LAGUNA, Philippines – Shabu with a street value of P5 million and assorted firearms were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Santa Rosa City and Sta. Cruz town here that also resulted in the arrest of four persons including a former basketball player yesterday morning.

George Fajardo and his alleged companion Ricardo de Rueda were nabbed at his house in Barangay Macabling, Santa Rosa City at around 3 a.m.

Aside from drugs, police allegedly seized from the suspects an M4 bushmaster, a Carbine, two caliber .45 pistols and assorted bullets.

In the second raid, Reggie Gutierrez, formerly of the Laguna Lakers basketball team, and his companions Jaime Bueno and Daryl Calma were arrested at his house in Barangay Uugong, Sta. Cruz at around 5:30 a.m.

Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao, Laguna police director, said the arresting team allegedly recovered a .38 caliber revolver, 29 plastic sachets said to contain shabu, and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.
