MANILA, Philippines - Deniece Cornejo is very excited to leave detention following a Taguig City court's decision allowing her to post bail for the criminal charges filed against her by TV host Vhong Navarro, a relative of the former model said Wednesday.
Rod Cornejo said that their family has already raised the P500,000 bail money being required by the Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 271.
"She's very hopeful. She's very thankful..last time talked to her yesterday afternoon...I was hoping that she will be released. She was excited. She was prepared to leave already pero because of all this documentation, she has no choice but to wait," Rod told reporters at a media forum in San Juan City.
Deniece, along with businessman Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz, is facing charges of serious illegal detention and grave coercion in connection with the mauling of Navarro inside the former model's condominium unit on the night of January 22.
"The document being required by the court is still being processed. The family is following it up. They have been going to different offices like barangay, to get clearance . So they are working on it today. Since yesterday actually so as of this morning, they are still working on it. We are hoping and praying na sana kahapon pa dapat," he said.
Rod said Deniece would want to spend quality time with her family while out of prison.
"Maybe she wants to pick up the pieces. Maybe she wants to start earning again. Of course, she's a very spiritual person. I think she has to go to church... She's a born again Christian same with Cedric. He's born again Christian," Rod added.
Rod said he wants to be with her grand niece when she leaves her detention where she has been in lockup since May.
"Coz I told her 'Deniece, I was with you when you surrendered. I was with you when they brought you inside and I want to be with you when you leave,'" he said.
