Members of religious cult nabbed for killing cop

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines - The municipal police of Parang, Maguindanao detained more than 20 members of the religious cult “Pulahan” for killing a policeman last Sunday.

The detained amulet-wearing cultists were arrested in connection with the murder of PO1 Rahid in Barangay Making in northwest of Parang, not far from Camp S.K. Pendatun, the regional police camp of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Local police probers declined to provide reporters with details of incident pending the completion of investigation.

Barangay officials said the detained men, armed with machetes and whose heads were wrapped in red cloths, arrived at the house of Rahid and attacked the policeman.

The suspects hurriedly left after killing Rahid, according to neighbors.

Pursuing policeman nabbed the suspects in another barangay several hours later.
