Blackouts to hit Zambales towns

Bebot Sison Jr. - The Philippine Star

IBA, Zambales, Philippines – A four-hour power interruption will hit four towns in this province today while Olongapo City will be affected with a 10-hour blackout next week, according to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

In an advisory on Thursday, NGCP Central Luzon corporate communication officer Ernest Vidal said areas served by the Zambales Electric Cooperative I in Iba, Palauig, Masinloc, Candelaria and Sta. Cruz will experience power outage from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

He said the power outage is due to the correction of the circuit breaker at Botolan substation and the maintenance and replacement of selected transmission line structures and replacement of old wood poles along the Iba-Sta. Cruz 69kV line.

Meanwhile, the Olongapo Electric Distribution Co. Inc. (OEDC) said a 10-hour power interruption in parts of Olongapo is due to the replacement of defective pole attachments, cross-arms and insulators in the area.

OEDC customer and community relations officer Norbie de Guzman said there would also be stringing and uprating of conductors along Gordon Avenue in Barangay Pagasa.
