Witness: Enzo Pastor's widow suggested route

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — It was the wife of champion racer Enzo Pastor's wife who suggested that he should take the route where the gunman shot him dead, an eye witness claimed.

Paolo Salazar, who was with Pastor on June 12 when a motorcycle-riding gunman suspected to be PO2 Edgar Angel killed him, said that Pastor called his parents and Dalia first to ask which route to take to the Clark International Speedway, according to a radio report.

Salazar said Pastor's parents advised him to pass through Manila via the Nagtahan Bridge, but Dalia suggested him to take the C-5 highway and pass through Visayas Avenue in Quezon City.

It was the junction connecting Congressional Avenue and Visayas Avenue when the two were shot. Salazar sustained an injury, but Pastor immediately died.

On Wednesday, another witness, Alvin Nidua, surfaced claiming businessman Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman, believed to be having an affair with Dalia, first approached him to kill Pastor.

Salazar and Nidua submitted their affidavits to the Department of Justice to counter Angel's retraction of his confession tagging De Guzman and Dalia to the crime.

Pastor's parents, meanwhile, submitted a list of phone calls showing that Dalia talked several times with De Guzman on the night their son was killed.

In her sworn counteraffidavit submitted through her lawyer, Dalia denied she had an affair with De Guzman, saying he was just a "friend" to her and her husband. - Camille Diola
