Village official falls in Cavite drug bust

MANILA, Philippines - Anti- narcotics agents nabbed a barangay councilor during a sting operation in Cavite, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Wednesday.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Juanito Maliksi, 43, an incumbent barangay councilor in Zapote IV, Bacoor City, Cavite.
Operatives of the PDEA Regional Office 4-A arrested the suspect in an entrapment operation near a hotel along Real Street, Bacoor City last August 23.
Confiscated from Maliksi were two sachets of suspected shabu and a motorcycle, which have been brought to the regional office for forensic examination.
Maliksi will face charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
