MANILA, Philippines - Classes in Manila and Pasay cities have been suspended on Tuesday as a low pressure area continues to dump rains in the metro and nearby provinces.

In a phone-patch interview on GMA 7's Unang Hirit, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada announced the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools in the nation's capital.

The former president was prompted to suspend classes due to the flooding of some areas in the city caused by the incessant rains.

The Department of Education (DepEd) also announced that classes in all levels in Taytay, Rizal have been called off.

Classes in the preschool and high school levels have also been suspended in Pasay City, according to the DepEd.

Manila, the entire metro and nearby provinces is under a yellow rainfall warning issued by state weather bureau PAGASA due to a low pressure area located near Daet, Camarines Norte.
