NORTH COTABATO, Philippines -- Lawmen arrested on Sunday night a couple wanted for large-scale peddling of shabu in school campuses in Kidapawan City.
Supt. Gilbert Tuzon, chief of the Kidapawan City police, said common-law spouses Christian Casayuran, 31, and Leona Velasco, 34, voluntarily yielded when policemen raided their house, after a month-long surveillance.
Tuzon said barangay officials helped plan the raid of the suspects’ house along Datu Ingkal Street in Kidapawan City.
Tuzon said the arrest of the suspects was carried out on the basis of a warrant issued three days earlier by Judge Arvin Balagot of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Kidapawan City.
Policemen recovered from their house a still undetermined worth of shabu in sealed sachets and drug-sniffing paraphernalia.
Tuzon said the city police will charge Casayuran and Velasco with violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, on Tuesday.
