Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippinwa - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday advised motorists to brace for heavy traffic in Quezon City as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct re-blocking works in some major roads until Monday.

In its advisory, the MMDA said the DPWH will start with the re-blocking and repair of major Quezon City roads at 10 p.m.

Affected by the re-blocking works are the portion of C5 Road, from Julia Vargas to CJ Caparas St., (outermost southbound lane); along Araneta Avenue from Del Monte Avenue to Maria Clara St., (2nd lane-southbound); along E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue and C5 Road between Mercury and Eastwood Avenue (3rd lane-southbound);

Along Fairview Avenue from Doña Carmen to Winston Street (3rd lane-northbound), and along Congressional Avenue from Mindanao Avenue to April Street (1st lane-westbound).

The MMDA has advised affected motorists to use alternate routes as the roads will only be cleared to traffic by 5 a.m. on Monday.

Meanwhile, the MMDA also announced that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number-coding scheme will be suspended across Metro Manila on Monday (including Makati City) with the celebration of National Heroes Day, a public holiday.

The UVVRP is suspended during weekends and during declared public holidays.
