Tourism student's body still not retrieved - report

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities on Thursday resumed the search for one of the tourism students who were swept by strong currents in a river in Bulacan last Tuesday.
 
Reports said the search and retrieval team is still trying to locate Maiko Bartolome, a tourism student at the Bulacan State University, after he and other students were swept by raging waters in the Madlum River.
 
The retrieval team has recovered the six bodies of the students, who reportedly tried to cross the river Tuesday, reports added.
 
Reports said that the students, who were supposed to trek to Mount Manalmon, and they did not heed the warning from local officials against the raging waters coming down from the mountain.
 
Local authorities are now pushing for the installation of an automatic rain gauge and siren on the mountain to prevent a similar tragedy.
