BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – President Aquino will be in Cagayan tomorrow to inaugurate a multimillion-peso bridge named after his late father, former senator Benigno Aquino Jr.
Former Cagayan representative Manuel Mamba, now chief of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office, said the President will arrive at 8 a.m. in Tuao town, where part of the P600-million bridge and road network project is located.
The bulk of the budget allocation for the road project, dubbed the gateway to the Cordilleras and Ilocandia from northern Cagayan Valley, came from the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program fund.
The project includes a 22-kilometer road and three overflow concrete bridges.
Mamba said the 360-meter bridge, formerly called the Maguiling Bridge, will be named Ninoy Aquino Bridge.
