BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – An agent of the National Bureau of Investigation was killed in an ambush in Solsona town in Ilocos Norte Friday night.

Michael Marlon Grande, 41, was riding his motorcycle when he was shot by assailants who have been tailing him along a dimly lit portion of Barangay Laureta, police said.

Residents told investigators they heard gunshots and found the victim bloodied. They said they saw the gunmen fleeing on a motorcycle.

Village councilman Melan Pascua, a cousin of the victim, told police they do not know anyone who may have ill feelings against Grande.

The police said they would look into a homicide case involving Grande several years ago.
