Tuguegarao jail warden, guards axed

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The warden and the entire personnel of this city’s jail were removed from their posts over the proliferation of illegal drugs in the facility.

Chief Inspector Mark Rian Dirain and 30 jail guards were placed under investigation, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology regional director Amelia Abbario-Rayandayan told The STAR.

Chief Insp. Nanding Bayle replaced Dirain.

Rayandayan said a surprise inspection of the jail premises dubbed “Operation Greyhound” yielded P8,000 worth of shabu.

She said the operation also confirmed there were illegal drug transactions taking place in the jail.
