P1.8M worth of shabu seized in Davao

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities arrested three persons, including a government employee, at a checkpoint in Davao City, seizing P1.8 million worth of illegal drugs, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. Identified the suspects as Badrudin Langalen, 38; Sainudin Lidasan, 31, a driver of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DENR-ARMM); and Abdulkarim Pingguiaman, 45.
The suspects all hail from Cotabato City and are considered high-value targeted drug personalities, Cacdac said.
Belated report reaching the PDEA central office in Quezon City showed that last Aug.10, around noon, anti-narcotics agents and policemen intercepted around 210 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu placed in a plastic sachet at a checkpoint at Sirawan, Toril, Davao City.
Seized pieces of drug evidence were brought to the PDEA RO11 Laboratory Office for forensic examination.
Cases for violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filling in court against the suspects.
