Magnitude 4.1 quake jolts Negros

BACOLOD City, Philippines   – A magnitude 4.1 quake shook the southern part of Negros Occidental Sunday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported yesterday.

Phivolcs said the tremor, which was tectonic in origin, hit Sipalay City at around 9:07 p.m.

The quake’s epicenter was located 10 kilometers southwest of Sipalay.

Phivolcs said Intensity 4 was felt in Sipalay City, !ntensity 3 in Hinobaan and Basay, Negros Oriental, and Intensity 1 in Bayawan, Negros Oriental.

No damage was reported and no aftershocks followed the quake, Phivolcs said.
