Charges filed vs EDSA road rage suspect
MANILA, Philippines — A road rage suspect who threatened a taxi driver with a firearm during an altercation along EDSA faces charges of grave threat, malicious mischief and physical injury.
Karlvin Ang, an executive at real estate firm Primex Development Corp. was caught on video pointing a gun at cabbie Glen Remetio along EDSA-Santolan in Quezon City.
The video went viral after it was uploaded on YouTube on July 25.
Remetio filed Thursday before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office and was endorsed to Assistant City Prosecutor Flordeliza Lagasca, a radio report said.
In the video, Ang kicked and opened the door of Remetio's cab, forcing him to go out. He then pulled a gun from a bag and pointed it to the taxi driver.
Ang then drove away in a Mercedes Benz SUV before Remetio's cab caught up with him again.
Chief Superintendent Virgilio Lazo, director of the Philippine National Police-Firearms and Explosives Office, said in a previous report that the suspect's gun license may be revoked due to the incident.
"The moment the suspect has been identified, we will recommend the cancellation or revocation of his permit if that (gun) is license," Lazo said. - Camille Diola
