The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Thirteen inmates bolted jail in Gumaca, Quezon and Taytay, Rizal before dawn yesterday and on Monday, respectively.

All five Taytay escapees, including a 15-year-old boy charged with theft, were eventually re-arrested. They used a key left behind by warden SPO1 Federico Pambuan, who was relieved from his post along with jail guard PO2 Manuel Fang-asan.

The eight Gumaca inmates exited through their cell’s round steel bar that they cut.

A manhunt is ongoing for seven of the escapees, as the eighth one had been re-arrested. – Ed Amoroso, Michelle Zoleta, Non Alquitran
