GV Florida bus fatally runs over mayor’s kin

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Barely five days since its fleet again hit the road, one of the buses of GV Florida fatally hit a relative of Tuguegarao Mayor Jefferson Pattaui Soriano on Monday.

The victim, Randy Pattaui, 34, was crossing the highway in Barangay Ugac Norte here. Bus driver Roland Pablo said he blew his horn when Pattaui suddenly crossed the highway, but it was too late.

Pattaui died before reaching the hospital. The bus driver gave himself up after the incident.

The bus fleet of GV Florida was allowed by the Court of Appeals to resume its trips after reversing an earlier six-month suspension imposed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board when one of its units figured in an accident in Bontoc, Mt. Province that left 14 people dead.
