Laguna attack leaves 2 dead

LAGUNA, Philippines   – A businessman and his driver were shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Calamba City on Sunday.

Club owner Fidelino Dejano, 52, and his driver Ricardo Codera, 32, had just arrived in front of the businessman’s house in Barangay Parian when they were attacked at around 5:45 a.m., said officer on case Police Officer 3 Nicarnor Panghulan.

Dejano was about to open the gate when the gunmen shot him several times. Codera tried to help his employer but he too was shot.

Panghulan said the victims died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the head and body.

The gunmen took the victims' personal belongings before fleeing.

Police are eyeing robbery as the motive for the killing.
