Kidnapped woman turned sex slave rescued in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A young woman who was abducted in Misamis Occidental and reportedly forced into sex slavery was rescued by local police in a west coast village in Zamboanga City.

Police Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, public information officer of Police Regional Office 9, said the victim was located after the Ayala Police Station was tipped off on the whereabouts of the 18-year-old victim, who is a resident of Oroquieta City. 

Police forces led by Police Inspector Karib Abud Muharram, who were on mobile patrol rescued the abandoned victim at Calle Cawayan, Sitio Dumagsa Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the victim was forcibly taken by two male suspects last July 7 and brought in Zamboanga where she was held for more than seven weeks.

Police personnel from the Women and Children Protection desk further disclosed in its investigation that the victim was sexually molested by her captors. 

Police have already identified one of the suspects and pursuit operation for their arrest has been on going, Samuddin said.
