Dagupan mayor named RPOC head

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – President Aquino has appointed Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez as the new chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Region I.

With her appointment, Department of Interior and Local Government regional director Julie Daquioag said it is Fernandez’s “big responsibility… to guide the activities of the council in terms of the preservation of peace and order, public safety, disaster management and everything that concerns the protection of our people.” 

For her part, Fernandez said she would do her best to address and provide solutions to peace and order issues in the region, especially in solving problems related to illegal drugs.
