PNP cites Dagupan City mayor for backing community programs

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez was awarded as the Best Local Government Executive of the Year by the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the recent kickoff ceremony of the 19th Police Community Relations Month celebration at the regional police camp in San Fernando, La Union.

Fernandez was commended for her support for police-community relations programs and for bringing the police closer to the people. 

Chief Superintendent Roman Felix, Region 1 police director, handed the award to Fernandez.

For his part, Superintendent Christopher Abrahano, Dagupan City police chief, said, “Because of the mayor’s enormous support, the Dagupan police is a consistent best performer in the province.”

The city government has provided more than P4 million in funding support to the Dagupan police, and recently, turned over four brand-new motorcycles.
