Agusan Sur barangay chief shot

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Motorcycle-riding men shot the chairman of one of the biggest barangays of Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur yesterday morning, authorities said.

After giving Barangay Maygatasan chairman Mariano Café, 55, initial treatment, officials of the New Bayugan Medical Hospital later referred him to a more equipped hospital in this city, which is 40 kilometers away. He was reported to be in critical condition.

Police said Cafe was driving his motorcycle along the national highway on his way to a corn drying facility when he was shot in front of the New Bayugan Medical Hospital.
