NAIA ground crew member struck by lightning
MANILA, Philippines — A member of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport's (NAIA) crew was seriously injured after he was struck by lightning Thursday night.
A dzBB report on Friday morning said that the unnamed crew member was leading a Cebu Pacific plane near Bay 109 in NAIA Terminal 3 when the incident occurred.
The surge of electricity that accompanied the downpour reportedly hit the plane's tail and reached the serviceman's headset.
He was immediately rushed to a Pasay City medical facility.
Being exposed to lightning in some weather conditions is considered one of the risks for ground personnel. If the occurrence of lightning is severe, ramp supervisors usually suspend operations.
