Bulacan’s P150-M loan bid questioned

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bulacan Against Graft and Corruption (BAGAC) yesterday urged the provincial government to immediately come out with a detailed justification on the P150-million loan it is seeking from the Land Bank of the Philippines.

BAGAC said the P150 million is earmarked for 223 various projects that are allegedly not in the 2014 Annual Investment Plan (AIP).

“If it’s not in the AIP, why the sudden rush to spend on it considering that we are halfway into 2014,” BAGAC said in a statement.

The 223 projects supposedly include rehabilitation of various roads and canals and the purchase of a container van for the Commission on Audit’s local office for the storage of its documents.

“Why should the provincial government be the one to spend for the container van? COA has its own budget and a big office in Bulacan where it can store its documents,” the group said.
