4 dead as truck falls into ravine

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines   – Four persons including a driver and his son died when a 10-wheeler truck fell into a ravine in Diadi town in this province on Sunday.

Truck driver Jonathan Camba, 33; his son Dan Nathaniel, 7, and helper Edmar Reyes, 22, and bystander Pocholo Mendoza, 42, were declared dead on arrival at the Santiago Emergency Hospital, said Police Officer 1 Paul John Aquino.

Aquino said Camba lost control of the wheel, causing the truck to hit a waiting shed in Barangay Balete before falling into the ravine.

He said aside from Mendoza, the truck hit two other bystanders, identified as Tranquilino Sambu, 52 and Daniel Esporma, and 12-year-old students John Mark Maglente and Joshua Omacam, who were injured in the incident.
