PCSO to LGUs: Claim P232.6-M shares in lotto operations
MANILA, Philippines - Local government units can now claim their shares in the online lottery operations for July to December 2013 amounting to more than P232.6 million, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said yesterday.
“We remind the LGU payees to claim their lotto share checks from the nearest PCSO branch office or from the PCSO head office in Manila,” said Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, PCSO acting chairman.
Under Republic Act 1169, PCSO allocates 30 percent of net receipts from lotto operations to a charity fund for the agency’s medical and healthcare-related programs.
On the other hand, Executive Order 357, series of 1996, states that five percent of the PCSO charity fund is granted to LGUs where lotto outlets are located.
For the period covering July to December 2013, PCSO allocated more than P232.6 million in LGU shares nationwide.
The amount is broken down as follows: National Capital Region P75.4 million; Northern and Central Luzon, P27.8 million; Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region, P43.5 million; Visayas, P54.4, and Mindanao, P31.3.
“To the LGUs where there are few or no lotto outlets, we encourage you to host PCSO’s outlets so you can avail of the LGU shares that you may use for your social programs,” Rojas said.
The PCSO official appealed to the public to continue supporting the PCSO lotto and other games.
“For every ticket you buy, you not only have the chance to become a millionaire, but you are also helping fellow Filipinos around the country,” he said.
