Terror threat won't hamper creation of Bangsamoro gov't - MILF
MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front peace panel on Monday said the reported terror threat in Mindanao will not jeopardize the creation of the implementation of the Bangsamoro government.
Professor Abhoud Syed Lingga, also the executive director of Bangsamoro Studies, noted that the Philippines is not the only country besieged by threats from terrorist groups.
"Ang terror threat naman ay hindi lang 'yan dito sa atin, 'yan naman ay sa buong mundo. So kailangan ang isyu ng terrorism ay dapat may bagong approach kasi ang terrorism iba 'yan sa isyu ng Bangsamoro na intermediation," Lingga told Church-run Radyo Veritas.
Lingga also discounted the possibility that the threats are coming from some quarters opposed to the establishment of a Bangsamoro entity in region.
The Philippine National Police earlier reported that there were intelligence information regarding a a planned terror attack in Davao City.
To date, Malacañang has yet to submit the signed Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro to Congress that will take up the matter after President Benigno Aquino III's State of the Nation Address next month.
Both the MILF and the government peace panels are eyeing to hold a plebiscite on the creation of the Bangsamoro entity in 2015 or before president's term ends.
