Agusan NPAs raid ex-cop’s house

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Some 30 suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels raided on Thursday the house here of a former police officer who was reportedly a former close-in bodyguard of Agusan del Sur Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza.

Police said the armed men in camouflage uniforms arrived in two vans and barged into the house of former police officer Leon Elorde Viajar in Barangay San Vicente by destroying the main door. Viajar was not around when the raid took place.

The rebels reportedly took away a number of firearms, ammunition and some valuables.

Recently, NPA rebels also swooped down on the house of Carmen, Agusan del Norte Mayor Ramon Calo and carted away licensed high-powered firearms, ammunition, a laptop and camera.
