LPA nears Eastern Samar; heavy rains over Visayas

Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Visayas and three regions will experience heavy rains today while a low pressure area (LPA) hovers near Eastern Samar, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was located at 390 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar at 4 a.m. today.

The Visayas and the regions of Bicol, Caraga and Northern Mindanao will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Mimaropa, Calabarzon and the rest of Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Visayas and Mindanao with slight to moderate seas.
