MANILA, Philippines — Hard-hitting news commentator Raffy Tulfo has posted P6,000 bail following the issuance of a warrant of arrest against him and his brother, Erwin, for libel on Tuesday morning.

Tulfo said that the amount was posted this afternoon before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, even as the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Eleuterio Bathan of the court's Branch 92 has yet to be served by the police.

Erwin Tulfo, meanwhile, has not yet posted bail as he is currently out of the country.

The anchors were accused of libel in calling Senior Police Officer 3 Abubakhar Manlangit "magnanakaw" (thief) in their TV program "T3" aired over TV5 on Nov. 19, 2011.

"Nagulat siya (Manlangit) na tinawag ko siyang magnanakaw, e totoo naman. Galit siguro sa Tulfo 'yung piskal kaya biglang lumabas ang warrant," he said in an interview with dzMM.

Tulfo admitted he was surprised by the release of the arrest warrant as he was not privy to the developments of the case. He said the latest libel charge is the 38th case filed against him.

He also dismissed the recent case saying he is confident that he can defend himself from the allegations.

"Paborito ko itong mga ganitong kaso dahil kahit nakapikit, kaya ko itong labanan," Tulfo said. - Camille Diola
