Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

BACOLOR, Pampanga, Philippines   â€“ An adviser of this town’s mayor, Jose Maria Hizon, was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men in Barangay San Isidro here Sunday.

Danny Mar Danganan, 48, a former municipal and barangay councilor, had just come from the public market when he was shot in front of his home at about 8:30 a.m., said Chief Inspector Dan Gallano, head of the Bacolor police.

Danganan died at the scene from several gunshot wounds in the body. He was the fourth of Hizon’s associates to be slain since last year, wherein three of Hizon’s political advisers were killed in Mabalacat City shortly before the barangay elections.

Hizon said he has asked the National Bureau of Investigation and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Camp Crame to help investigate Danganan’s killing.

Gallano said probers found seven bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

“A special investigation team has been created to look into this case,” he said adding that as of yesterday, probers were still clueless on the identities of the killers.
