2 Cagayan dads, woman killed in mishap
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Two municipal councilors and a woman were killed while three others were hurt after the sport utility vehicle they were riding fell off a bridge in Sto. Niño, Cagayan last Friday, police said.
Reports identified the fatalities as Sto. Niño councilors Rosendo Ruiz Jr. and Orlando Campano, and Zenaida de Leon. Rushed to the St. Paul Hospital here were Felomena Tulali, Romeo Pecson and councilor Jamil Romeo Uy who drove the ill-fated Mitsubishi Montero.
The group had come from a wake in Tabang village when Uy lost control of the vehicle along a curved portion of the highway, sending it plunging from a bridge.
In Iloilo, meanwhile, two women were killed and eight others were injured when their tricycle plunged into a ravine in Barotac Viejo town.
Police said the group was to bring to the hospital a certain King-King, said to be suffering from a mental illness, when it met the accident, which left Emma Batadlan and Eva Abisa dead.
