Call center agent drowns at Batangas resort
BATANGAS , Philippines – Two days after three persons drowned at a beach resort in Calatagan town, a call center agent died while two of his companions were rescued after they were swept by strong waves on Saturday morning.
Police identified the fatality as Ronald Hernandez, 31, of Muntinlupa City, and the survivors as Xyril Arciaga, 27, of Makati City and Angelo Rikko Reyes, 21, of Sta. Ana, Manila.
Arciaga and Reyes were being treated at Don Manuel Lopez Memorial District Hospital here as of press time.
Reports said the three were swimming at Caisip Beach Resort in Barangay Sta. Ana when huge waves swept them away at around 5:30 a.m.
On Thursday, two college students and the father of one of them drowned at a private resort in Barangay Bagong Silang, also in Calatagan.
Hosea Jizo Pinto of De La Salle University-Taft and Therese Maria Cordero of University of the Philippines-Manila were chatting with their friends on the breakwater when they were swept away by huge waves.
